What kind of digital SLR camera is best for beginners?

Question by LLC: What kind of digital SLR camera is best for beginners?
I’ve taken a recent interest in photography – I’ve always taken pictures with a normal digital point and shoot camera, but I really really want a beginner SLR camera, which can take really nice pictures but is reasonably priced. I don’t know ANYTHING about SLR cameras, but the ones I’ve looked at so far are the Nikon D40, and the Canon Rebel, and the Pentax K110…. any advice?

Go with either canon or nikon

Personally i prefer the canon EOS digital Rebel 400d or xti (same thing)

I adore photography and I want to step up from a digital camera to an SLR camera. The thing is, I don’t know where to start or what I’m even looking for. I did go to a store that specialized in SLR cameras and they tried to help me but I didn’t know what to do or what they were talking about (considering I’ve never taken a serious look at SLRs till then).
I’m thinking about the Nikon D60; the people store said it was easy and I was really comfortable with the camera. But before I buy it, I’d like to ask if it is a good choice for beginner’s and if there are any other cameras that might be a better choice.

It is a good choice for a beginner. It is one of the best entry level DSLR’s. I would also take a look at the Canon Rebel XS or XSi. Then choose which one feels best to you and has the features you want.
